My article breaks down Ron DeSantis’ statement on the Ukraine war, submitted last week to Tucker Carlson. I explain why DeSantis’ stance, which on the surface appears to pay lip service to ‘MAGA non-interventionism,’ in reality does little more than regurgitate astroturfed consultant-generated talking points that offers nothing of substance.

I elaborate why DeSantis in fact offers little if anything radically different from the same old worldview shared by the Washington Military Industrial Complex – even repeating many of the same talking points of establishment politicians on both sides of the aisle, from Mitch McConnell to Joe Biden.

My position on DeSantis received more support just last night when news broke of his bombshell remarks on Piers Morgan’s show. In this interview, DeSantis explicitly disavowed the suggestion that he was an isolationist, as reported by Tucker Carlson, and a narrative peddled by so many of DeSantis’ digital acolytes.

The Piers Morgan interview may be the clearest indicator to date that Ron DeSantis is a proud and unbridled neoconservative – something many of us have been warning for months. Thankfully, many – including diehard supporters of the Florida Governor – are waking up to the reality that in Ron DeSantis they have been sold a bill of goods, a proposition that is supported by his tanking poll numbers relative to Trump.
