Since I had to know what crime Trump was charged with, I found the statute. P.L. 175.05. (This was weeks ago, so the number might be wrong.) It’s a simple law, and if the Prosecutor wanted to prove it, he could. A business owner cannot make a false entry into his books. Bragg is attempting to prove that labeling an entry Legal instead of Business makes it false. But it’s the amount that makes an accounting entry accurate or false. The misdemeanor is apparently to appease the IRS. This would be easy to prove with opening the books. If the 34 invoices and payments are equal, the People don’t have the evidence to prove guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. The first misdemeanor has to be proven first beyond reasonable doubt. The second misdemeanor in the State is still being created, but it appears the court is trying to get a guilty verdict because they are presenting the man as a shady character. It will be interesting to hear the Judge’s instructions to the jury, especially what the second state statute is. I don’t believe Trump should testify. They already have him sitting in a cesspool, wanting to defend himself. This court is not interested in justice. It’s the last thing they want.
